Having the right nursing credentials, certifications, and licenses will open more opportunities for your healthcare career goals.

If you are thinking about enrolling at Evolution Health Academy to start your healthcare education in Miami Gardens, Florida, you must consider which road you want to take to start your nursing career.

There isn’t a right or wrong answer when it comes to which degree or program you should take, but knowing the difference between certain programs will help you make an educated decision on which degree is right for your career goals. There are many options available, but for now, we will be covering the difference between getting an Associate Degree in Nursing or an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Not to be confused with Certified Nursing Assistants, a person who studies ASN can become a Registered Nurse (RN). This entry-level degree takes about two years to complete and covers the necessary training and care strategies. It has low admission requirements, which makes it ideal for people who have limited experience and educational attainments.

Meanwhile, the BSN program is specifically designed for RNs. People who studied ASN can proceed to a BSN program for more opportunities for career advancement than ASN as it covers a more in-depth curriculum spanning four years with added training in case management, leadership, information management, and more. BSN also paves the way for people to continue their education with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.

Needless to say, there is a significant difference in salaries because you can earn more with a BSN degree. Additionally, students who complete the ASN or BSN programs must pass the NCLEX Test to obtain their license.
